Their story began in college, when Cris first noticed Franz with her then-boyfriend. He caught himself thinking, “Sayang tong babaeng ’to.” It was a funny thought at the time, but from that moment on, he started noticing her more and more, repeating the same mantra in his head. Eventually, their circles intertwined, friendships blossomed, and slowly—softly—the universe steered them toward each other. With prayers whispered in the dark, patience that stretched across years, and a love that waited without losing hope, they finally became one another’s answered prayer.

When Cris chose the path of the Philippine Navy, Franz’s heart wavered. She hadn’t expected it; she hadn’t prepared for it. Yet love made her brave. She chose to support him, letting his dreams become their shared dream. Still, no one warned her of the weight that comes with loving an MIU—the distance, the silence, the ache. Plans dissolved. Dates vanished. Even their 2024 wedding faded into another “not yet.” Again and again, God whispered the same answer: Wait.

And so they waited—Cris with steady faith, Franz with gentle stubbornness and a little “toyo” on the side. Through every cancelled moment, every unanswered plan, every heartbreak—they waited together.

Then, just a day after completing his six-month in-house training, Cris and Franz finally had their intimate civil wedding on December 20, 2024. No programs, no crowd—just their closest family and friends. Everything happened so quickly that it felt like a blur.

It was then they understood: every “no” had been protection. Every delay had been preparation. When God finally says “yes,” everything becomes clear, easy, and filled with grace. Now, as they plan the church wedding Cris had always promised, everything finally feels right.

From the moment he first saw her walking through the halls of SBC, he knew he wanted to give her the best life he could. He knew she deserved nothing less. Cris had always seen Franz’s worth; she was never “sayang.” She was simply waiting for the right person, at the right time.
