Our Love Story

It was rowdy in the school cafeteria when stars aligned.

I was wandering through the crowd, looking for my friends, while Dave was busy getting ulam from his friends’ table. In the chaos of lunchtime, our paths collided — literally — when he suddenly stepped on my foot. I yelled, “Ano ba?!” and glared at him — I really stared him daggers. He couldn’t stop apologizing, but in his mind he was thinking, “Ano ba tong babaeng ’to… ang weird, naninigaw, hindi naman sinasadya, nag-sorry na nga!”

Then he walked away, and we both thought that was the end of it. Just another cafeteria mishap in a loud, messyconversations that lasted longer than we meant them to.

And that’s when the magic began.

We discovered we had so much in common: we both loved watching anime, and our “quick chats” would turn into late-night talks that stretched almost two hours. Hanging out with each other felt natural, fun, and a little thrilling. Before long, our casual meetups turned into quiet little dates nobody in our circle knew about… our secret bubble where everything felt new and exciting.

One of them even teased, “Bagay kayo,” and I tried to shrug it off — even though deep down, I already felt it too.

After a school swimming outing, Dave insisted on sending me home on his motorcycle. That ride was simple — but unforgettable. It was also the moment he found out where I lived. And from that moment, he began surprising me with little visits. Sometimes he brought snacks, sometimes he just wanted to see me, but every time, he showed up with that quiet sweetness that made my heart skip.
