Our Love Story

Spark in the Factory

1971, a bustling thread factory in Manila. Eddie, a 25-year-old dyeing specialist, was fixing a broken loom when Gilda, a bubbling 23-year-old beauty, accidentally dropped a spool of thread near him. As he bent to pick it up, their eyes locked – Eddie's messy hair and Gilda's bright smile created an instant vibe . Weeks turn into months but Eddie, being the shy type did not make any move but was just contented watching Gilda afar. Not until …….

Martial Law – A Blessing in Disguise

September 22,1972, a sunny Thursday afternoon. Eddie and Gilda were unexpectedly paired as seatmates on a ruffled bus headed to Narvacan, Ilocos Sur. Their common' friend, Ric and Puring, insisted they join the group trip to celebrate the town's fiesta – and maybe find some love .

As the bus started to rumble through twisty mountain roads, Eddie and Gilda awkwardly introduced themselves. He fixed her window latch; she offered him her pandesal. Small talks led to laughter. That night, under twinkling bus lights, they confessed: neither had a partner. Eddie joked, "Parang tayo na lang sa bus na 'to." (Looks like it's just us in this bus.) Gilda blushed .

In Narvacan, Marcos declared Martial Law on radio. The group worried – but the fiesta pulsed on. At the town dance, Eddie twirled Gilda under lanterns. Amid guitars and cheers, they whispered dreams: family, love, freedom.

As they explored the town's cobblestone streets and sipped coffee at the local café, their connection grew stronger. They strolled along the beach, watching the sunset, and shared stories of their dreams and aspirations.

Back in Manila, Eddie couldn't stop thinking about Gilda. He wrote her letters, and they would meet up on weekends, exploring the city and getting to know each other better. Gilda was charmed by Eddie's kind heart and sense of humor, while Eddie admired Gilda's compassion and beauty.

Eddie and Gilda's whirlwind romance that began on that bus ride to Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, ended up on a beautiful wedding during Valentine’s Day of 1976.

Their wedding was a beautiful celebration of their love, surrounded by family and friends. They exchanged vows in a simple yet elegant ceremony, promising to love and cherish each other for the rest of their lives.

As they danced their first dance as husband and wife, Eddie whispered, "I love you, Gilda," and she replied, "I love you more, Eddie."
