Our Love Story
In 2012, during a school activity in Peñablanca, a quiet love story began—one that only Ruth knew. She first heard Emil lead a prayer, and even before seeing his face, she was moved by the sincerity and depth of his words. When she finally saw him, it felt strangely familiar, as if their story had already been written long before that moment. From then on, she quietly admired him from afar at Cagayan National High School, where Emil was a senior and Ruth a sophomore.
Four years later, in 2016, fate brought them together again at church. Emil was part of the worship team, and Ruth’s family, feeling at home, decided to stay. They officially became churchmates, sharing the same space of faith, while Ruth quietly nurtured the feelings she had held in her heart for years.
In 2017, Emil enrolled in law school at Cagayan State University, the same university where Ruth was finishing her degree. Though they crossed paths at school and at church, they continued to grow individually, their bond strengthened by shared faith and silent admiration.
In 2020, Emil finally made the first move. After years of prayers and patient waiting, he chose to pursue her. Before Ruth said yes, she asked him to close any unfinished chapters in his life. Emil did, and together they trusted that God had chosen the perfect time for their story to unfold.
Then came 2021, the most challenging season of all. As Emil prepared for the Bar, church leaders asked them to separate so he could focus entirely on his review. They obeyed. There were no messages, no greetings, not even a simple hello at church. Complete silence stretched over months. It was not a breakup. It was obedience. It was trust. During that time, they continued praying for each other, holding onto faith rather than presence. Ruth quietly decided that when the Bar results came out, pass or fail, Ruth would give him her answer.
In 2022, Emil passed the Bar, and Ruth finally gave him her long awaited yes.
In 2025, during a trip to Cebu City and Bohol, after Emil sought her parents’ blessing, he surprised Ruth with a proposal. Without hesitation, Ruth said yes again—her second and forever yes.
And now, in 2026, their journey of love, faith, and patience leads them to a new chapter as they prepare to say “I do.”
From a prayer heard from afar in 2012 to a promise fulfilled in 2025, theirs is a love shaped by faith, tested by waiting, and sustained by God’s perfect timing.
1 Corinthians 13:7
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
