Our Love Story
Our love story didn’t start at a fancy dinner or a loud party. It started in a psychiatric rotation, surrounded by textbooks, loaded requirements, and the beautiful chaos of healing minds. An ordinary night that would unknowingly become one of the most unforgettable moments of our lives.
Everyone was busy preparing for presentations when I noticed Jobelle, patiently teaching her group mates the choreography. As the music played, she moved with so much confidence, freedom, and grace. Every step looked effortless. I honestly thought she was a dance instructor, never imagining she was one of my classmates. Watching her dance made my heart skip a beat. It wasn’t just her talent—it was her kindness and elegance. They say love at first sight exists, but for me, it was love at first dance. What started as a simple glance became the beginning of a beautiful journey. Fate was quietly introducing me to the love of my life.
We built a beautiful friendship first, shared our biggest dreams, before becoming real lovers. That strong foundation makes our love so real today. We were each other's safe space during those long, exhausting psychiatric shifts. We held each other’s hands when things got overwhelming and made each other smile on the hardest days. We learned a lot about human behavior that semester. But the best lesson? Falling for each other.
It feels like just yesterday we were stressing over finals, exhausting duty schedules, surviving on cafeteria meals, and praying for passing grades at the end of the semester. Little did we know, the best thing college gave us wasn’t a degree—it was us. After surviving the all-nighters, the campus dates, and the graduation walks, we then tried to survive the miles. Saying goodbye after college was the hardest thing we ever did. But we know LDR is just a new chapter in our story. Every mile apart is simply a reminder of how lucky we are to have someone so worth waiting for. As they say distance means so little when a person means so much.
We held each other’s hand through the toughest clinical rotations in college. Today, we hold each other’s hand through everything. Who knew that the stranger we awkwardly passed in the hallway all those years ago would become our forever. Now, we are walking through life as husband and wife. God truly knew exactly what He was doing when our paths crossed. We survived the exams, we survived the distance, and now we survive (and thrive) in marriage.
When God is the center of a relationship, the foundation doesn't shake when the winds blow. People look at us and ask how we made it through the hardest chapters of our lives, and the truth is simple: we stopped trying to steer the ship ourselves and let Him take the wheel. Every prayer answered, every silent comfort in times of pain, and every joyful laugh we shared is a gift from above. Every lonely night and tearful goodbye taught us how to pray harder and love deeper, knowing His presence is our constant home. Having each other's side is one of our greatest blessings, but having Him guide our steps is the real reason we are unshakable. We are forever grateful for the journey God wrote for us.
Here’s to leaving the long-distance era behind and starting our greatest adventure. I do, I will, and I always will. A lifetime more of growing, forgiving, understanding, praying, laughing, and loving.
