Our Love Story

Back in the quiet town of Norala, South Cotabato, two souls shared the same hallways, the same classrooms, but not the same world.
Jem and John were classmates in high school—but never friends. Jem, with her soft-spoken charm, belonged to her circle of achievers, often lost in books and dreams. John, on the other hand, was the laid-back, cheerful type who hung out at the back of the class, more interested in laughter than lectures. They exchanged few words, perhaps a polite nod in group projects, maybe a glance in passing—but that was all.
When graduation came, they went their separate ways.
Jem flew to Manila for college, chasing her dreams in the city that never slept. John stayed behind in the province, enrolling in Marine Engineering, holding tight to his goal of becoming a seaman and helping his family.

Years passed. Life went on.

Then one day, while in Manila applying for a job, John stumbled upon Jem’s Facebook profile. The name was familiar, but the woman he saw looked different—confident, radiant, stunning. There was a glow about her, something he hadn’t seen before. Without hesitation, he sent her a message, unsure if she would even reply.

To his surprise, she did.

That first message turned into a conversation… then into regular chats… There was a spark—unexpected but undeniable. When they finally met in person again, it felt as though the universe had been holding that moment for years. Their personalities clicked so naturally, so effortlessly, as if their hearts had been waiting for this second chance all along.
John courted her sincerely, with humor and persistence. Jem, cautious but curious, found herself slowly falling—not just for the new, more mature John—but for the version of herself that he made her feel she could be.

Soon, they were officially together.

But just as their love was beginning to bloom, John had to leave to sail. His seafaring dreams were finally coming true. What came next were years of long-distance calls, midnight video chats, and countdowns to the next reunion. It wasn’t easy. There were days filled with longing, and nights that felt longer. In the rare moments they were together, they made memories: spontaneous travels, amusement park dates, mobile game marathons, and simple walks holding hands like they were the only two people in the world. And now, after eight years of love, laughter, tears, airport hellos and goodbyes—they’re getting married.
