Our Love Story
It Started in Faith.
We were college friends who found the same purpose in Christ. We served the Lord together with our friends in different ministries. While serving the Lord, I saw her transformation and eventually saw Jesus in her character. In distance, I secretly admired her but she doesn't have any interest in me. In silence, I tried to ask God about her and ask His will for us.
So after pandemic onwards—for years, I sent her a simple Sabbath greeting card every Friday evening with Bible verses as encouragement—just to show her that she mattered, without telling her directly. Most of the time, I simply left the card in her bag, in her notebook, on top of her phone, or on a table, without telling her.
After we graduate in college, God gave the go signal and led me to ask permission from her mom without her knowlege. Praise the Lord—the blessing was received. I am ready to talk to her at that time but God had another plan for both of us. He called us to the mission field as SULADS para-teachers in far-flung areas to serve Him and His children there. We were assigned to different places and could only see each other every two months. One more school year passed before God allowed me to approach her, present my intentions, and confess my heart.
So on July 17, 2023, she accepted me, and God allowed me to begin knowing her more deeply.
But God’s wonderful plan did not end there. He placed in our hearts a desire to continue serving Him. I decided to serve as a para-teacher on one of the islands of Tawi-Tawi to minister to our Muslim brothers and sisters, and she also answered the call to become a missionary nurse in PAMAS, Palawan.
For almost 11 months of being in a relationship—far away from each other and barely communicating—doubts arose about whether the relationship would work. But God is good. He held both of our hands and sustained our relationship.
On July 17, 2024, after my term in SULADS, God brought me to PAMAS, Palawan, to serve as one of His missionaries through media. This place became our first mission field together. Not only that—it became deeply special to us because here, God introduced Himself personally to each of us through the gospel. In this place, we discovered our purpose in this relationship, and eventually, God revealed His purpose for us in marriage.
On July 17, 2025, with God’s permission, the advice of spiritual mentors, guidance from Scripture, the approval of our parents, and the help of our friends, the marriage proposal was made—and by God’s grace, the sweet answer was heard in her prayer. It was a big YES!
The relationship we have started in Christ through faith, is sustained by faith, and this new chapter will continue in Christ as His missionaries, still through His faith.
