Turning 18 feels like reaching a chapter break in a book I didn’t always know how to read while living it.

I grew up learning love in many forms. From my grandparents, who gave me roots. From my auntie—my guardian—who became my everyday constant and quiet strength. And from my parents, Mama Mylyn and Daddy Allen, who were far away but never absent in purpose, working abroad so I could dream bigger, study harder, and live a little more comfortably even when they couldn’t be beside me.

My life taught me early that presence isn’t always physical—and that sacrifice can sound like love spoken in another language.
I’m quiet, yes—but my silence is full. Full of thoughts shaped by books, faith, music, and moments of watching the world closely before speaking back to it. I found my voice in pages, in songs with the children’s choir, and in service within the church community, where I learned that growing isn’t just about becoming older, but becoming kinder, deeper, and more faithful.


At 18, I’m not claiming to have everything figured out. But I am grateful—for the people who raised me, the distance that strengthened me, the faith that grounds me, and the heart that continues to grow even in quiet ways.

This isn’t just a birthday.
It’s a thank you.
And a promise—to keep growing with purpose, humility, and love.
