Our Love Story
In July 2019, fate brought us together via Facebook.
I am scrolling through my phone and confirming friend requests, and my eyes got stuck on an old man's friend request. Minutes passed, the old man messaged me via messenger and said, "Hi Maam, good afternoon."
I feel afraid and curious why an old man messaged me. I scanned through his Facebook, and I found out that he was just using the FaceApp app at that time. Because of boredom, I replied to him and said, "Hello Sir, kun may negosyo ka man or pyramiding nga e endorse sa akon, indi gid ko Sir mag intra kay wala ko kwarta Sir. Gakinahanglan man ko bala kwarta Sir. Pasensya gid Sir," and he replied, "Hehe indi Maam uy. Ang akon Maam is pwedi ka pa ila-ila Maam?". And that's the beginning of our long, funny chit-chats.
Around October 2019, he decided to go home to Negros, and we met at STI West Negros. There, he patiently waited for me for hours because I had a sports seminar at that time. After a long wait, we finally met in person.
Fast forward, he courted me, and I said yes around December 2019, but after 3 weeks, I asked him to stay away from me, and I wanted space.
3 weeks passed with no chats and calls. Something is bothering me, something is missing, and I prayed to God for help.
Around January 2020, before the Dinagsa Festival in Cadiz City, he texted me again. We called and messaged each other every day and every night.
He was so persistent with me. He is so determined and consistent with me, and even bothered to go to Bug-ang just to see me.
Around June 2020, after I went to the wedding of my best friend, he patiently waited for me again at Sagay City. We ate and laughed together as if nothing had happened, and we are so comfortable with each other. After that moment, I realized, what if I try again? What if I take the risks? If it will work out, then it has its own purpose, but if not, I know there is a reason.
So, around June 22, 2020, I took the risk, and I accepted his love. Until such time, with the help of asking God's guidance, we happily survived our 5-year-long distance relationship. He promised me that he would really marry me someday, and it is now about to happen.
I thank God for quietly answering my prayers to have someone who is kind and calm, and for such a wonderful love story woven by His grace and love.
