Our Love Story
Some love stories begin with sparks. Theirs began quietly — unexpectedly — and exactly the way God intended.
Richard Bruce Neal had long been a family friend, often seen on video calls with Charlene Estelle Salvador’s parents and siblings. To Charlene, he was simply “Kuya” — an elder brother figure. At the time, she was fully immersed in her own calling: dancing, excelling in her studies, and pursuing her dream of becoming a professional teacher. Her world was filled with movement, purpose, and passion — and she was patiently waiting for God’s best.
They came from different cultures, different seasons of life, and different sides of the world — Charlene a Filipina, Richard an American. Yet even before they realized it, God was already weaving their story together.
The shift came in the most ordinary way. During a video call with Charlene’s mom, Richard shared stories of a shark adventure from his work as a commercial diver. When her mom needed help receiving the photos, Richard sent them to Charlene through Facebook Messenger. What began as a simple “Wow, that’s amazing, Kuya” slowly turned into meaningful conversations — and eventually into something far deeper than either of them expected.
Distance and time zones shaped their journey, but they never defined it. While Richard managed his company, ADW Corp, and Charlene continued to grow in her calling, they chose patience. Richard was a hardworking, constantly busy, and deeply generous man who had grown comfortable—and content—with his single life. He had even accepted that his future might look like being the cool uncle—the one who spoils the kids, shares wisdom, and happily returns them to their parents. Love, much like marriage, wasn’t something he was actively searching for. So finding Charlene wasn’t just unexpected for her—it was unexpected for him too. Yet over four years, he showed that no schedule, no responsibility, and no distance could stand in the way of intentional love — not only toward Charlene, but toward her family as well.
What truly captured Charlene’s heart — and deeply moved her family — was Richard’s faith. He didn’t just speak about Jesus; he shared Him through every encounter, every conversation, and every act of love. His leadership, generosity, and Christ-centered life made faith the foundation of their relationship — and that is what made Charlene fall deeply in love.
As Charlene became a licensed professional teacher, her calling expanded beyond borders. She traveled abroad, sharing her passion with children who needed guidance, hope, and love. At the same time, Richard was thriving in his own lane — building and growing his company with equal parts brilliance and heart. Through it all, their shared faith and purpose grew stronger, walking side by side as they served God in their own unique ways.
What started as familiarity turned into friendship, faith, and a love rooted in purpose. Saying yes didn’t feel sudden — it felt certain.
From different worlds brought together by God’s perfect timing, Charlene and Richard now step into their forever — grateful for every chapter, every lesson, and every prayer that led them here. And today, they joyfully invite you to witness the beginning of their next chapter.
